My name is Aveda Adara. I am indigenous from the Navajo Nation.
I am a DJ, producer and digital artist. I am originally from the Red Rock, New Mexico reservation, was born and raised and moved to Houston in 2010. The people on the scene have definitely been a big support in supporting my art. I've doubled in different variations of artistry all around Houston, which has let me experience many parts of the city and scene.
The title of this piece is Mephistopheles, The Dark Wave, which is my moniker as a musician. What inspired me was being an indigenous woman who wanted to put out interpretations of my digital art. I took the pandemic as a brick to learn what I could about NFTs and learned different software like Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Chandra and Procreate, among other things like producing music. Being able to bring me as a subject to life in the realm of endless editing possibilities is pretty exciting. Getting the urge to go beyond that by learning AI generated art programs and AR Spark and After Effects are on the list of digital art programs I want to experience next. Literally, I started not knowing anything about how to use these programs and ended up creating stunning visualizations, makes me feel very accomplished.

She's a two-time recipient of the First People's Artist and Leadership Fellowship. Her performances include "Cell Lust", performed at the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston. She was featured as a keynote speaker for La Raza for Liberation and mediums of art have been featured at Jill Mar Visions, Shape of Things Gallery, The Dollhaus Gallery II in Bayone, New Jersey. She has worked with Dinolion Productions for social media campaigns and music videos and she is featured in the upcoming Jack Straw Cultural Center in Seattle, Washington. As an urban Indian, she uses elements from her Diné traditions and her artistic practice.

Originalmente soy de Red Rock, la reserva en Nuevo México, nací y me crié ahí y me mudé a Houston en 2010. La gente en la escena ha sido una gran ayuda al apoyar mi arte. Lo que me inspiró fue ser una mujer indígena que quería lanzar interpretaciones de mi arte digital. Tomé la pandemia como un ladrillo para aprender lo que pude sobre NFT y aprender programas como Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Canva y Procreate, entre otras cosas como producir música. Ser capaz de presentarme a mí como sujeto en el reino de las infinitas posibilidades de edición es muy emocionante. Tener el impulso de ir más allá de eso al aprender programas de arte generada por IA y AR Spark y After Effects están en la lista de programas de arte digital que quiero aprender. Literalmente empecé no sabiendo nada sobre cómo usar esos programas y terminé creando visualizaciones impresionantes que me hacen sentir satisfecha.
